Vincent Fideli
Hi! I’m a PhD student on the EPSRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training in BioDesign Engineering program. I am in Bart’s group and am co-supervised by Prof. Guillaume Charras (UCL).
My key area of interest includes antimicrobial resistance, which is a pressing global issue that I think should be imminently addressed. To this end, my research involves creating and optimising a microfabricated device to allow us to better use atomic force microscopy on live, growing, and dividing bacteria. I plan to use this device to study the mechanisms of action of antimicrobial peptides on the cell envelope of bacteria. Hopefully this paves the way for future development of antimicrobial peptides, to counter antimicrobial resistance.
