Join our Team

We are a diverse and multidisciplinary research team, including physicists, chemists and biologists. By working together (and in tight collaboration with other labs), we complement each other's expertise and compensate for our respective skill gaps. If you are interested in joining us, feel free to contact Bart Hoogenboom with a brief expression of your interest in our lab and a curriculum vitae of maximum 2 pages (including a list of selected publications if appropriate).

Postdocs
Vacancies for postdoctoral research assistants will be announced here when available, and advertised widely. In addition, we are happy to advise and support promising candidates who intend to apply for postdoctoral fellowships.
We are currently advertising for a postdoc position on immunological biophysics, see atsv7.wcn.co.uk/search_engine/jobs.cgi?amNvZGU9MTg3Mzc4MCZ2dF90ZW1wbGF0ZT05NjUmb3duZXI9NTA0MTE3OCZvd25lcnR5cGU9ZmFpciZicmFuZF9pZD0wJmpvYl9yZWZfY29kZT0xODczNzgwJnBvc3RpbmdfY29kZT0yMjQ&jcode=1873780&vt_template=965&owner=5041178&ownertype=fair&brand_id=0&job_ref_code=1873780&posting_code=224

Postgraduate (PhD) students
We are currently advertising for a PhD project on "Nanoscale imaging of membrane pore formation in bacterial attack and immune defence", see www.findaphd.com/phds/project/nanoscale-imaging-of-membrane-pore-formation-in-bacterial-attack-and-immune-defence/?p120154. Students with an interest in our lab are strongly encouraged to also apply to the various relevant graduate programmes as listed on the web site of the Biological Physics group at the UCL Department of Physics and Astronomy. Application deadlines tend to be between December and March. We are happy to advise promising candidates and also to propose - within reasonable limits - projects tailored to candidates' interests.

Undergraduate and MSc students
We typically host 1-2 BSc/ MSci/ MSc research project students per academic year. For selected first-, second- and third-year students, we can also provide support in applying for vacation bursaries, for 6-10 week research projects over the summer. A non-exhaustive list of such bursaries can be found via this link, with application deadlines typically between January and April. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to host undergraduate students for other types of projects during the academic year.
