Georgina is a PhD student in Bart’s group. She graduated from King’s
College London with a BSc in Biochemistry in 2017. Now, Georgina is
using atomic force microscopy to study the surfaces of live bacteria
with nanometre resolution. She looks at the native architecture of the
outer membrane, as well as how proteins and peptides affect these
membranes to kill bacteria. She also has an industrial supervisor, Max
Ryadnov, at the National Physical Laboratory where she is designing
new antimicrobial peptides.
